10/26/13 (Saturday, 7:45pm) - This is a little different kind of review than what I normally do, but if you like Ghost Walks/Tours, then this is a good one. I don't go on many of these but when I do check these out, I will be sure to post a review here on Monster Blog 13. It takes place at the Old State Bank, 925 Bank Street, Decatur, Alabama 35601 (256-341-4818).

The flyer at the bottom of this page says it all as it states, "This is not a haunted attraction, but a REAL interactive event where you will PARTICIPATE in a LIVE INVESTIGATION. The tour will also reveal many true, scary and unusual stories of persons associated with the Old State Bank since its construction in 1833".

You pay $10.00 to enter and you first sit down in the courtyard area behind the Old State Bank where the Director of the Old State Bank & Historic Resources for the City of Decatur, David Breland, gives you a 15 minute history of the Old State Bank and its many potential paranormal visitors.

A former judge for 30 years, David Breland does an excellent job as storyteller/ history buff of all things associated with the Old State Bank, from both a paranormal and historical standpoint.

There are a couple of actors who are dressed in Civil War attire to add to the atmosphere and they have the courtyard decorated in a slightly spooky way.

After that you enter the Old State Bank and members of the Alabama Paranormal Association take over from there. They have all their paranormal investigation equipment set-up inside the Old State Bank. They have K2 meters, Infrared cameras, EVP equipment etc... They will give you some of this equipment in your group and you can walk around the bank asking questions and perform a live investigation.

Then they take you into the money vault, which use to be a surgery room during the Civil War and they perform an EVP session with your group. Outside the vault, you can view the many cameras on a computer screen and see if anything had been captured.

It's like you are in an episode of Ghosthunters. Everything is being done Live and right in front of you and you get to participate.

For people who have never been ghost hunting, this is a neat experience.

Author, Dale Langella, who wrote "Haunted Alabama Battlefields" is also there and you can talk to him about the many investigations he has done and about his book. The Old State Bank is included in his book as it was instrumental during the Civil War and has been recognized as having paranormal activity. You can purchase the book and have the author sign your copy.

You can easily spend and hour or more at this event depending on how much you want to investigate.

It was a great ghost tour with a neat twist having the guys from Alabama Paranormal Association doing live investigations that you get to participate. I thought it was a great idea and everyone really seemed to enjoy the event.

Unfortunately, the Ghost Tour was only done on this one night, but this was their first year, so maybe multiple nights are in the future. Be sure to check back in 2014 and if you get a chance, bring some friends or your family and check out the Spooktacular Ghost Tour!
