Released October 9, 2012 - What would Halloween be without the ultimate Halloween Rock Band, KISS!

Ok, I have been a huge Kiss fan since the mid 70's and I am one of the old school die hard Kiss fans. I stopped liking Kiss when the make-up came off and Ace Frehley and Peter Criss left the band back in the early 80's. Although, I will admit that when Eric Carr came into the band and they released the 'Creatures of the Night' album in 1982, Carr did provide some much needed energy to the band and that album was actually really good.

On October 9, 2012 Kiss released their latest record "Monster" with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. When I first heard about the new album coming, I have to admit that I didn't have high hopes for it. I thought there may be a couple good songs on it and the rest would be crap.

Kiss fans, let me tell you, if you like Kiss, you will love this album. There is really not a bad song on the whole album. I say "Album", I actually downloaded it off of itunes, but I'm old school, so I will still call them albums!

This is the best album Kiss has done since the 70's, no kidding! It has really hard riffs and pop choruses that remind you of the Destroyer days. I especially like how they kept to their old Kiss sound. Tommy Thayer's guitar work on this album is awesome and he sounds like a updated version of Ace Frehley. Really heavy riffs but doesn't stray too far away from that signature Ace Frehley Kiss guitar sound.

The album is really upbeat, high energy staright forward rock n' roll. The first single is "Hell or Hallelujah" and the second single will be "Long Way Down". There are so many great songs on this album, it's hard to pick which ones should be singles. I like "Freak", "Right Here Right Now" and "Shout Mercy" also but i could list all the songs because there isn't a bad song on this album.

Gene and Paul still sound great also. Gene has an excitement to his voice that i haven't heard in a long time and Paul sounds like Paul. It's a very vibrant sound that they have and I hope they will continue on this track. I would love to see them continue with this sound and keep making great records. Gene sings several songs on the record and Paul sings the majority. These are some really catchy songs that will grow on you like a fungus if you keep listening.

So, even for a die hard traditionalist Kiss fan like myself, I give "Monster" a 5 out of 5 rating. I can't stop listening to it!
